You hire. We take care of everything that follows.
Hiring someone in Switzerland means one signature and a dozen obligations that all start the same day. None of them is complicated. Every one of them is penalised if forgotten.
Payslips go out on time, and the returns follow.
Monthly payslips, with the right deductions and the variable items: overtime, bonuses, allowances, expenses, absences. A payment file ready for the bank.
Old-age and survivors' insurance, disability, loss of earnings, unemployment, occupational pension, accident, sickness daily allowance, family allowances. Registrations, joiners and leavers, periodic and annual returns.
Determining the scale, the monthly deduction, the return to the cantonal administration, attestations. And the corrections when an employee's personal situation changes during the year.
- Salary certificates for every employee
- Annual AHV and family allowance returns
- Payroll declarations to the accident and loss-of-earnings insurers
- Declaration of salaries subject to occupational pension
- Withholding tax summary
- Updating rates and thresholds, which are indexed and change regularly
What must be done before hiring a first employee?
Register with an AHV compensation fund, take out compulsory accident insurance, join a pension institution if the salary exceeds the entry threshold, check the right to work and the permit, and put a written contract in place. In some cantons and industries, a collective agreement additionally imposes a minimum wage and specific conditions.
Who pays what, employer or employee?
Old-age, disability, loss-of-earnings and unemployment contributions are split in half. The occupational pension is borne by the employer for at least half. Occupational accident insurance is entirely the employer's; the non-occupational part may be deducted from the salary. Family allowances are funded by the employer.
Who is subject to withholding tax?
Foreign workers without a settlement permit, and people resident abroad who work in Switzerland. It is the employer who withholds the tax and pays it over — and who is liable if the deduction is wrong.
Can payroll alone be outsourced?
Yes. It is in fact a good way in: payroll is the most rule-bound and most repetitive part of administration. Many of our engagements began that way, then extended to the bookkeeping.
How many payslips a month?
It is the only question that really drives the cost. Tell us and you have an estimate.
